HISTORY

Justine is the second daughter of the Atsirian House Ysak, whose seat is in Taleth. Her parents wanted both their girls to be self-sufficient and capable, so they didn’t hide any facts of the world from them, once they were of the age to understand them. The two sisters had a rather changeable relationship, sometimes getting along, sometimes having screaming matches, but once her sister, as the heir, went to serve in Razen, the relationship has calmed quite a bit.

Justine’s parents took a very laissez-faire approach to parenting. As long as their daughters fulfilled all duties and responsibilities assigned to them, they were pretty much given free reign to do what they pleased, within reason of course. This suited Justine especially, for one because, as the “spare” she was given less tasks than her older sister, and two because she was naturally a very impulsive girl: once she got it into her head to do something, no matter what it was, she would do it. She loved the thrill of risk-taking, especially the few times she was able to shock her parents, though this did not happen too often due to their rather accepting nature.

Justine’s one major rebellion against her parents is still unknown to them: when she was sixteen, she decided that she was in love with one of her parents’ servants, a man almost ten years her senior. At least she knew she really liked him, and certainly she desired him. And so Justine got it into her head that she would marry him…in secret, as she knew full well her parents would not support this decision, as they wanted her to marry well, or at least marry out of actual love. So one night they went out to the local temple of the Dragon Gods, a double rebellion since Atsirian weddings do not take place in the Church, and convinced the priest there to marry them.

One year later, her marriage is still a secret and thus still filled with thrills for Justine.

However, that thrill alone is not enough to satisfy her. Soon after her journal became magical, Justine found herself playing her games with Randy, her "Dancing Boy." She also struck up an odd friendship of sorts with the priest Rolen, who had performed her secret marriage ceremony. Life began to get even more interesting with the arrival in Taleth of Melyndra, a mysterious prophet and her new religion of the Goddesses.

After Melyndra left Taleth, her followers began to build a temple without having received permission from Fiona, Justine's mother. Building was halted until they went through the proper channels. However, before they were able to do this, Justine convinced Rolen to aid her in destroying the partially-built temple. When Melyndra arrived, prepared to make Rolen, the supposed perpetrator, pay for his actions, Justine took all the blame herself. As punishment for her action, Lady Fiona had some of Justine's belongings confiscated in order to make reparations to those wronged. Justine was also put under house arrest, confined to her room and kept in isolation. While she tried to act like everything was fine, the reality of this situation became too much for Justine and she suddenly vanished from the journal without warning.

Almost a month later, Justine finally reappeared on the journals, after sneaking into Rolen's personal rooms and spending a number of nights sleeping there. Finally she decided that she had to return home and make the public apology her mother desired, knowing that after Fiona's will was followed things could go back to the hands-off way they had always been.

PERSONALITY

Justine is a very rash person, to say the least. She can be rather reckless and impulsive and often doesn’t think things through before she acts. However, she is a dutiful daughter most of the time, willing to do what is asked of her in exchange for the freedom to do what she wants. Most of her desires and whims are not as extreme as that which led to her marriage, however she follows them all through with the same enthusiasm.

Justine does get bored of things rather easily most of the time, as once she has experienced one thing, she wants to experience something new. It is extremely hard, if not impossible, to dissuade her from an idea she has, once her mind is set, and most people know that it is best to just let it run its course and be there to witness the ending, whether it be glorious or disastrous. Most of the time, if it be the latter, she is able to pick herself up easily and pretend that it never happened. A few times however, if she has put a lot on the line, she can take a few weeks of moping around to bring the regular Justine back.

Justine is a great fan of sensual pleasures, whether it be sexual or otherwise.

APPEARANCE

Justine is of fairly average height for an Atsirian woman, which puts her roughly at 5 feet tall. She has short blonde hair and blue eyes. She likes to wear rather revealing clothing, pushing the limit of what is acceptable.
